Researchers also took functional magnetic resonance imaging scans of the participants while at rest, while executing a neutral job, while meditating, while carrying out a stressful task, and at rest again. These scans allowed the researchers to get a picture of cerebral blood flow in response to several activities. Participants who underwent MBAT therapy scored significantly lower on anxiety exams than individuals in the control group. They also showed a lot more blood flow to the brain’s emotional centers, including the still left insula, which is important in the perception of feelings, the amygdala, which regulates the knowledge of tension, the hippocampus, which regulates the physiological tension response, and the caudate nucleus, linked to the connection with rewards.
